Oandy Naranjo, PhD

Consultant - Scientific Strategy, Communications & Design

Engineering Viral–Neurovascular Interfaces for Translational Impact

Oandy Naranjo melds cutting-edge virology with neurovascular research and leverages a foundation in mass communications and graphic design to translate complex data into compelling visual narratives. With a PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Miami and recognition as a Lois Pope Fellow, he drives innovations in human blood–brain barrier (BBB) models and translational strategies targeting neuroinflammation.

Oandy’s Areas of Expertise:

  • As a postdoctorate, Oandy developed primary human BBB culture systems to characterize latent HIV-1 reservoirs in pericytes and elucidate cell-death pathways under viral infection.

  • Skilled in advanced virology assays and imaging, from viral tropism studies to high-content fluorescence microscopy, enabling quantitative analyses of neurovascular integrity & contributing to multiple peer-reviewed publications

  • Assisted in health economics and outcomes research (HEOR), designing cost-effectiveness analyses and value frameworks to demonstrate intervention impact for payers and providers.

  • Expert in scientific communications and graphic design, crafting publication-quality figures and presentations using tools like BioRender, Adobe Illustrator, and InDesign to convey research insights to diverse audiences.
